At Island Martial Arts in Staten Island, New York, we teach Tae Kwon Do classes with dignity and respect for all of our students regardless of age, belt rank, gender, or ability. We are committed to providing a learning environment that is both positive and supportive. Our students progress through the rank system learning that positive efforts are rewarded, but that the added reward also means added responsibility to themselves and those around them.

The Tae Kwon Do training we offer is balanced between conditioning and fitness, basic techniques, self-defense, and the mental attributes of this highly-regarded martial arts discipline. No other form of physical activity can offer the benefits of Tae Kwon Do classes. This art is designed to use speed and skill, not bulk strength to defeat an opponent, and all students are able to participate together regardless of age, ability, or gender.

Young students, particularly teenagers, will learn to focus their energy in positive ways that carry over outside our facility. Children will become more focused on their school work and more at ease interacting with other people, and will gain a new sense of confidence. Adults will find a place to train in an environment focused on developing the physical and mental skills of martial arts. Unlike team sports, where one must compete just to play, everyone participates in Tae Kwon Do class.

We place a great deal of emphasis on personal enrichment, and are committed to helping students attain their maximum potential.
